Our Favorite Breakfast Smoothies for Weight Loss

smoothie recipes for weight loss

Smoothies is one of the popularized winners in the competition for the status of the most healthy breakfasts. In fact, it’s not that easy as it sounds. Yes, you can blend some fruits and milk and maybe a little bit of honey – and voila – it’s not a healthy breakfast meal, but a sugar bomb.

But of course, if you approach the topic wisely you can find an amazing choice of a breakfast smoothie for weight loss.

That’s not to demonize them: for the right person, the right smoothie can be a perfectly fine choice. But the qualifiers are important: not all smoothies are healthy, and even the ones that are, aren’t necessarily right for everyone.

So what are the key things to take into consideration when thinking about the perfect smoothie?

Key Rule: Don’t Forget about Protein and Fat

Most of the times the most delicious smoothies are all carbohydrates.

Metabolically speaking,  eating this type of smoothie for breakfast is pretty much the same as if you were eating candies instead. Yes, you can expect the same energy crash, blood sugar swings, and a bit of crankiness later. Even getting a lot of Vitamin C with your smoothie doesn’t help. As your body demands protein and fat every time you eat. So, your smoothie does not begin to qualify as a healthy breakfast for weight loss until you add fat and protein to it.
